Mitar Medović from Banjaluka is helping his fellow citizens although he is 92 years old. Medović is a retired police officer and president of Red Cross in Borik, Banjaluka. He is among the oldest and the most active volunteers of Red Cross, dedicated to helping people in the past 50 years.
For his charity work he received 28 acknowledgements from various institutions. He received two April Awards from the City of Banjaluka and five medals. He was awarded with two medals by Josip Broz Tito: Order of the Labor with Silver Wreath and Order of People's Merit. Red Cross of Republic of Srpska awarded him with Golden Order of Merit for great humanity and devotion, he was awarded for military merit and help to old combatants from World War II while the president of the Republic of Srpska awarded him with Cross of Mercy for his humanity. Mitar Medović proudly wears all his medals and Red Cross badge on his lapels.
