Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) viewers and listeners have supported the campaign “The Book of Solidarity” (Knjiga solidarnosti) for over 40 years, with a goal to provide books for schools and school libraries throughout Serbia.

This year, they collected more than 1,000 books in Radio Belgrade's building, which will be donated to primary school “19. oktobar” in Maršić village near Kragujevac. Also, 12,000 more books will be donated to other schools in Serbia.

This campaign has been running for 4 decades and so far has collected around 3 million books, but also a lot of school supplies, and technical and sports equipment as well. Thanks to it more than 1,300 local school and monastery libraries were founded and had their depositories extended. Another 37 libraries in France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, and Romania were also opened. All of this was possible thanks to the numerous citizens, publishers, institutions, libraries and organizations and their goodwill.
