At 2 successful fundraising events in Budva (Montenegro), both for the reconstructions and renewal of 2 monasteries with a very rich and long history, they raised EUR121,000. The first event was held on August 27 and it raised over EUR53,000 for the reconstruction of Sveta Trojica Monastery. Second event was organized on September 9 for the renewal of Podlastva Grbaljska Monastery and it raised even more - EUR68,000.
The first fundraiser was organized by Budva Municipality and Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral. Monastery Sveta Trojica in Stanjevići was built in 1338. by the Great Duke Nikola Stanjević as his endowment. An integral part of the restoration of the monastery is the paving of the access road that provides access to visitors and tourists. Next year, the Monastery will mark 680 years since its establishment and the community around it would like to finish its renovation for the occasion.
The second fundraising event was organized for the Monastery Podlastva Grbaljska in Grbalj, built by Tzar Dušan in 1350. Mayors of Budva and Kotor, as well as many business people, citizens, representatives of corporate sector and religious entities participated in this event. The monastery was destroyed many times - last time it was ruined by the 1979 earthquake. It is the oldest monastery in Boka Kotorska and it was spiritual center for the people from Grbalj.
