On Saturday, August 27th City of Rab, the Kvarner Islands Association of Physically Disabled Persons and local Association Komin organized in Barbat, the sixth swimming marathon for the persons with physical disabilities named The Heart against barriers. The other name for this event is Krešo’s Marathon, called for one of its founders Krešimir Butković. After one jump into the sea, he suffered several spine injuries and become quadriplegic, but in 2010 he conquered his fear and started to swim again.

This year over 100 participants, including 40 persons with physical disabilities, went swimming for 1.5 kilometers from Barbat to the little island Dolin and back. The entire income and all collected contributions will be used for construction of a wheelchair ramp in the Pag harbor.
