For the sixth consecutive year, on May 24, starting from 10:00 am, the big action Let’s Clean Up Kosovo began, which was attended by over 50,000 volunteers, who committed themselves to the clearance of about 200 illegal waste dumps. The official launch of the action took place in an illegal garbage dump, located near the cemetery in the neighborhood "Arberia" of the capital. About 300 volunteers attended the opening of this action.
Let's Do It Kosovo Coordinator, Luan Hasanaj, expressed the concern of the group on the environmental problems that Kosovo is facing.
Citizens should be more responsive and aware that they have to take care of the environment. Institutions also need to be more attentive and responsive to this issue. He appealed to all political parties to prioritize the environment in their governing programs. He was delighted that thousands of volunteers responded to the May 24th action for this year as well.
On the other hand, the Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Ferat Shala, said they are supporting the actions of Let's Do It Kosovo for the removal of more than 200 illegal waste dumps. For the realization these actions, the Security Force Of Kosovo had engaged personnel and machinery, while expressing their willingness to support such initiatives for the good of the country.
The same action has started in other municipalities of Kosovo, starting from 10:00 on 24 May, continuing throughout the day.
