Liceulice is building a Belgrade that we love living in, shaping the values in Serbia that we want to work in – creating a people who will know how to talk to one another, but also people who are ready to do something for each other...

The Liceulice media platform is a unique communication space in the region, intended to educate and motivate citizens about activism and the promotion of civil society values. For six years now, the Liceulice organization has implemented programs of direct support to marginalized groups aiming to increase their economical, cultural and social inclusion. The most well-known activity has been publishing the activist street magazine called Liceulice which is published once every two months, and which is distributed by socially disadvantaged persons who have difficulties in finding employment. By selling the magazine, they have an opportunity to gain new skills and earn half of the price of every magazine they sell.

Each edition of the magazine has it own theme like: migration, poverty, homelessness, etc., and there are also regular columns that draw attention to issues of public interest and promote philanthropy, activism, the fight for human rights and anti-discrimination, sustainable development and social entrepreneurship. So far, 31 editions have been published with 6,000 copies per edition, and they  are currently circulated in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Pančevo with around 100 vendors from vulnerable groups engaged in the sale of it. Every magazine edition is designed by a famous designer from Serbia or elsewhere in the region.

Liceulice publishes 4 newsletters to which you can subscribe via email at: redakcija@liceulice.org.

They are:

  1. A monthly newsletter about social enterpreneurship, published in partnership with SENS network
  2. AktivArt: a weekly newsletter about activist art from the former Yugoslavia
  3. Na delu: a bimonthly newsletter about new activities from the Liceulice activism platform
  4. Na delu: a bimonthly newsletter about new activities from the Liceulice activism platform, an English version

Regular programs also include a platform for the promotion of engaged design called ,, For Good Reasons“, which encourages designers to create visual feedback on important social problems. Their works are then used by the organization as illustrations in the magazine, the annual calendar, posters, T-shirts from the new series ,, Štenderaj " etc.. Among the regular programs are online campaigns for direct assistance to the homeless, ,, My neighbor without a roof", as well as for street festival activism, ,, Rattle," which is also the first festival that combines multiple forms of expression associated with public space and activism.

Liceulice continues to strive for positive social change, and that is something that you can be a part of - next time you run into one of Liceulice's vendors, consider purchasing a Liceulice street magazine to help the vendor earn their salary as well as help the organization continue its work and make a positive impact in our communities!
