Croatian entrepreneur and philanthropist Nenad Bakić started a crowdfunding campaign to provide necessary funds for improving conditions for STEM (Science/Technology/Engineering/Mathematics) projects in the Croatian educational system.

The campaign is perfectly planned and executed. The initial goal of 60,000 USD (approx. 55,800 EUR) was reached in a couple of days and that boosted the campaign to “stretch”goal to 100, then 200 and finally to 250,000 USD (approx. 232,550 EUR). So far 1,800 individuals and companies donate over 225,000 USD including Mr. Bakić, who donated 3,000 USD (approx. 2,790 EUR).

The money will used for acquiring over 10,000 pieces of Micro:bits to elementary schools in entire Croatia. Micro:bit is a new technology that has been developed by the BBC, Microsoft and some other companies for usage in elementary schools, not only in STEM curriculum, but also in design, arts and other fields.
