DM initiative called “The sun is shining where we’re at”, in which doctors provided free dermatological examinations, has ended last Monday in Split. The doctors have visited 6 cities, examined 1,830 people and referred 166 of them to further treatment.
Out of 316 examined citizens of Split, 21 of them were diagnosed with the malignant skin cancer.
This is the 8th year in a row that DM is organizing these free examinations. For that time, more than 9,200 citizens were examined, and around 10% of them were diagnosed with some sort of skin cancer.
Skin cancers found and removed early are very often curable.
