On February 15, NURDOR marked the International Childhood Cancer Day with fundraisers in the central squares in more than 40 cities across Serbia. A great number of public figures and citizens joined their cause.
During these events, a total of EUR 23,000 (RSD 2,721,269) was raised, which will help in the completion of the construction of the Hematology Center of the Children's Clinic in Niš. The money is raised thanks to the donations of thousands of citizens from all over Serbia, small and large companies, as well as prominent individuals. The funds that are currently missing in order to complete the new department amount to RSD 10,000,000. The construction began in May 2016, and NURDOR hopes that this department will be opened during the spring of this year.
The mission of NURDOR is to actively influence changes in legislation in order to secure the basic rights of small patients, and to raise the awareness of the wider community of the problems that children with cancer and their families face. The vision of NURDOR insists that every child and family should be helped in order to survive a long, painful and exhausting treatment.
