The Rijeka Carnival, with over 10,000 participants, is for sure one of the biggest events of this kind in the region. The long tradition of creativity, imagination and entertainment is equally followed by tradition of fundraising events.
One of the most important is the Carnival Ball, which is taking place at the Grand Hall of Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral.
This year’s ticket price was 400 HRK (a bit over 50 EUR), and the entire income will be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of the Primorsko-Goranska County.
The Rijeka Entrepreneurs Association and company VJ Coastal doo organized two culinary fundraising events. On Saturday, February 25th at the Republic Square, cooks prepared Jota, which is an Istrian version of a stew. The income from the sale of this popular dish will be donated to the Caritas Home Sveta Ana. At the same time in the Bazarig Passage, a warm Mineštra soup was prepared and sold for visually impaired children.
On Saturday evening local association Čiket organized a party and collected donations that will provide 24-hour stay for parents at the Kantrida Children’s Hospital.
